Liberian Transport Officials Complete Road Safety Training in Turkey

Monrovia, Liberia — January 30, 2026
The Assistant Minister for Land Transport, Hon. Zunu K. Duyann, along with two senior staff members of the Ministry of Transport, has successfully completed a two-week international training program on road safety in Istanbul, Turkey. The program, held from January 12 to January 26, 2026, was organized by the International Road Federation (IRF) in partnership with Road Safety Action International.
The intensive course centered on three critical areas:Road Asset Management – strategies for maintaining and optimizing road infrastructure. Road Financing – sustainable funding models for transport projects.Road Safety by Design – integrating safety measures into road planning and construction.
The Liberian delegation included: Hon. Zunu K. Duyann, Assistant Minister for Land Transport Director Jaspard White, Director for Land Transport and Zinneh T. Hills, Special Aid in the Office of the Minister
The training is expected to strengthen Liberia’s capacity in managing its road networks, improving safety standards, and exploring innovative financing mechanisms for infrastructure development. With road accidents remaining a major public concern, the knowledge gained by the officials is anticipated to contribute to safer and more efficient transport systems across the country.
The three officials have since returned to Liberia, where they are expected to brief the Ministry of Transport and begin implementing lessons learned from the program.
