*Liberia's Ministry of Transport has Launched New Motor Vehicle License Plate decommissioning the old expired license plates from the Liberian Market.

The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Transport, has officially launched a new generation of motor vehicle license plates, marking a significant step toward strengthening vehicle identification, public safety, and effective law enforcement nationwide.

The launch fulfills a long-standing statutory requirement to introduce new license plates every five years, in accordance with the Vehicle and Traffic Law of Liberia and the administrative regulations of the Ministry of Transport. The initiative underscores the Government’s continued commitment to modernizing the transport sector and enhancing regulatory compliance.

Speaking at the official ceremony, Deputy Minister for Land Transport, Hon. Rudolph Natt, emphasized that license plates are not merely identification tags, but essential tools that link vehicles to their registered owners, support crime prevention, and improve administrative efficiency.

He further explained that the new license plates feature enhanced designs adapted to various vehicle categories and are produced using high-quality retro-reflective materials to improve visibility, especially at night and in densely populated urban areas such as Monrovia.

The Ministry of Transport noted that the new system is expected to promote road safety, strengthen traffic monitoring, and contribute to a more secure and organized transport environment across Liberia.
